the portal of death

well, after a while, i thought about playing portal again[since i got a new windows 7] so i tried installing portal on there, but then the system crashed before it could finish. preventing any of my games from running. but half life 2 dm still isnt running, so i thought it needed a re-instal, but when i did that it still didnt work, it just said "preparing to launch half-life 2 deathmatch" and then it went and showed the valve and source thing, stayed in a blank screen for a small while, and quit again. and now im not sure if portal had anything to do with it anymore, can anyone tell me what happened?

make sure u have the latest graphics drivers. when portal crashed the first time, it may have corrupted something when u did system restore.

the crash didnt have anything to do with portal, it just crashes randomly from time to time. and i reinstalled hl2dm so any corruption in the game should be gone, so it cant be the graphics
