Re: how to make a demo? {noobquestionikr}
The demo can be found in your hl2mp folder.
You'll need a recorder program, i'll suggest you to get Fraps.
then press shift + f2, or just write demoui in console.
Now you can record the demo with Fraps while watching the demo

To be able to upload to youtube you need certain formats which youtube allows. The demo that's recorded is not one of them formats.commander fury wrote:Can't I just record without it without any program and then convert it on youtube ?

Re: how to make a demo? {noobquestionikr}
I have no idea, I always record to .AVI then put it into Adobe Premiere Elements and save it at a project then render it to .avi.
Re: how to make a demo? {noobquestionikr}
If you want to make a video, record it first, then press Shift + F2 to bring demoui, then browse your demo, then, open it.commander fury wrote:Can't I just record without it without any program and then convert it on youtube ?
After it's opened, take the part of the demo you want to record, tickrates as they are called.
Open your console and type these commands:
hidehud 9
hud_say_text_time 0
hud_draw_history 0
host_framerate 1000
These commands does:
Hides hud, hides text, hides the items you pick up in-game, the fps set to 1000.
Warning: I don't know your hard drive space, but if you got more than 500, then host_framerate 1000 is good, otherwise, lower the values.
When you're ready, and got the moments you want, type "startmovie nameofmovie" (without quotation marks) and let it do its work.
When you want to stop, type stopmovie, then exit the game.
Your cpu duing the process while take 100%, it's normal, don't worry.
Don't do anything else while processing, because you will lag like wtf, even for my computer.
When all is done, go to your hl2mp directory, you'll see a bunch of .tga's file and a wav file.
Download virtualdub.
When you have it, opened it.
Drag the first .tga file into virtualdub, it will calculate all your tga's files.
Don't drag all, just first one.
You can select which bits of the frame you want to keep.
Just selects the parts, go to edit, press set selection start, then set selection end.
Go to "Video" and "Framerates" and set the framerate the same as the one you set for your host_framerate.
The go to "Video" again, go to color depth and select 32 bits RGB (838) (dummy alpha channel) for the left side, leave the right side as it is.
Then go to Audio, and press "Full processing mode", then go back to "Audio", then select "Audio from other file" and import the .wav.
Then just press "File" and save it as AVI.
When you have done this and the file is converted to AVI, you can delete all your .TGA and your .wav file in your hl2mp folder to free up space, then drag the avi file into an editor like Sony Vegas Pro, and then edit it and render it as wmv, in high quality.

easier: record demo, download Fraps, play demo then press Fraps record button, right before the demo stops - stop Fraps recording. convert to mp4 using this: http://www.pazera-software.com/products ... converter/ upload the mp4 to youtube.Peter Brev wrote:SpoilerShowIf you want to make a video, record it first, then press Shift + F2 to bring demoui, then browse your demo, then, open it.commander fury wrote:Can't I just record without it without any program and then convert it on youtube ?

Ok thanks you all for the effort you provided to help me, and particularly you Goomba.
I'll see what I do this evening or in the next days but thanks.
@Goomba : You should put that into the tutorials section of HL²DM Steam, its nicely made and Im sure it would help alot of people .
