I don't really see the point in joining just to go afk. Well, sure it would have prevented all of this, but it shouldn't be necessary. Besides, I do all of my homework on my laptop, which doesn't have a dedicated video card. It runs minecraft, but I wouldn't be able to use word, excel etc. at the same time.Demon wrote:Well you know it's not my fault that you was inactive, at least what you could of done was to come online to minecraft just go afk camp and do what you was supposed to do like course work ect.

You could always change the affinity to 1 cpu if you have duo core or quad core.awesomedude wrote: I don't really see the point in joining just to go afk. You also could of set the priority of Minecraft to low when you are not using it, close other processes ect.

Re: A Tale Of A Broken System :]
Inactivity
The default settings of Factions have been modified to make it very simple for everyone to maintain a fairly constant power level on the server. The goal is to have a bunch of active players in a faction to offset possible player offline periods, which Sunville did have originally. First of all, there is no excuse for complaining about being kicked from a faction if you are inactive for a WHOLE 20 days. If you cant join the server for a few minutes within a 20 day period, then whats the point in playing at all. Second, lets discuss how easy it is to maintain a high power level. Lets say you cant get on the server for 4 WHOLE DAYS. That would be a loss of only 2 power levels. If your factions is somewhat active and intelligent, spare power level and other active players should be able to offset this temporary -2 power. But guess what?!?! If you come on the server for a FULL 10 minutes, you will gain back that lost 2 power level. WOW... 4 days offline -> can be regained in 10 minutes... simple enough.
Server Gameplay
If i wanted a plain-old minecraft server, i would have just made one. Instead, i like the way Factions worked, and i do like the idea of PvP and rising/falling towns. If this sort of gameplay is not for you, then like you stated, there is the option for Peaceful factions. The restrictions are in place to sort of persuade players to form larger factions and take-part in the PvP side of the gameplay. Peaceful factions are just a small side part of the server and should be NOT make up the majority of all factions. Once again, if you just want to build, yes it can be done, but only on a small scale. If you want to have a HUGE place, then you have to take risks and be non-peaceful. There are plenty of players out there that also like PvP, and i cannot please everyone.
Independent Servers
Conclusion
It's unfortunate that you (awesomedude) and a few others do not like that way the server is running, but its Factions, i like it, and thats the way it is. Some people on HL2:DM dont like Deathrun, and guess what, its been on for over 3 years now. Being admin on another server, in another game, has no extra preference over other players on Minecraft, so i see no reason to ruin everyone else's hard work and activity, just because a few people lost Sunville. You may think the system is "broken", but the key word in this is "you". Ask anyone who likes Factions and they will say the server is fine. Ask some who just wants to build in peace, and they will says Factions sucks. Its all a matter of opinion and gameplay style. The server is a PvP Faction Server so understand what you are getting into and predict how your experience will be before you start playing next time.

Independent Servers
You need to understand that each server that I run, has a completely separate relationship to each other. You were an admin on my Deathrun server, and were successful as such. Hence, the reason why you were given "Former Admin" status here on the forum and the option to come back as an admin again in the future. What happens on Minecraft is independent to you time you spent on the Deathrun server. Same goes for everyone else. As stated in the first part of this post, staying somewhat active is enough to maintain a faction on minecraft, and your inability to keep Sunville alive is not because I couldnt protect ur items/chests. It's because you and all the other members were not online to play.awesomedude wrote:That's all I get after spending more than 1000 hours on area 51's servers and serving as an administrator for over half a year. Thanks man, I appreciate it.

Thanks for taking time to write a good reply.
I don't expect special treatment on any of the servers, I just think you could have replied in a slightly more friendly way, instead of typing "nice... oh well". I didn't expect you to change anything just because I wrote this, I just wanted to hear if there was any possibility for players that simply wanted to build, to somehow get excluded from the normal rules/restrictions. However, you just clarified that I won't be seeing this.

Am I close?
I made a faction called Atlantis... My goal is to make Atlantis... any help? :3
Anyway, To " awesomedude's" Story, Witch made me both shead a small tear, for the fact that most of the detailed issuses were created by Kalrathia, so much so pushing the mayor of this town to stop playing, but also made me giggle and smile with joy, for the exact same reason.
I like "The almighty leaders" touch, tough if you wanted a way to touch Ant's heart, that's not it. (Though I could guess that was far from your intentions)
Ant's post sums up most of what I could have said. (without my touch of humor and sprinkle of self-assured...ness)
If any/all reimber the older versions of the Minecraft Server, Kalrathia has, and always will be the Warmoungrying, Hell-hole of half-assed buildings and Social Mud Pile of Drunks that mostly rules over the whole server and every resource on it with an iron fist, that it has, and will be as long as me, or MLG, ever come back, And you know what, I like it, its fine, fun even.
So In the end, No, We arnt restarting the server again, atlest not for a long time, seeing as there are still active people who play. As both Stuntman and myback have stated, and now me, if your on the server, Kalrathia is just one of the things you will have to deal with, just as much as Ant or Nick, or any Hacker, or faction, peaceful or no, Its part of the experience, live with it.
Peaceful rules seem truely correct to me as it goes, if you don't want to deal with everyone on a (PVP) Server, You would be forced to go out far from the spawn point, whom most non-peaceful factions would stay around, and build peacefully. 20 day limit also seems good to me, All Ant is asking is not for "You" the owner to be all that active, but the people of your faction to be active, as it is the amount of people, that make your power, that make your claim rate, that make your claim of buildings and rescores, that keep it from others. thus the whole point of Factions and PVP.
"The whole is the sum of its parts"
With that said, I bid you farewell.

Re: A Tale Of A Broken System :]
To be honest, I had a bad feeling that factions would cause a big commotion on the server... That's why I quit MC (I was also getting tired of it and moved on). Sure, the server before factions was always empty but I liked it that way. I could roam freely in a town without any threats of raids and such. I honestly don't care what happens to the server now because I quit but if I were to come back, I would just want a server that <insert reason here> (I got lazy).
To awesomedude: I also almost cried (not literally, but my mind) to reading that story.

Lastly, just to wrap this up, I honestly did not realize that SafeZones did not protect chests. That statement made was nothing against you or the fact that i wanted everything to get raided. If I did, I wouldnt have bothered claiming any of it.awesomedude wrote:I don't expect special treatment on any of the servers, I just think you could have replied in a slightly more friendly way, instead of typing "nice... oh well".

I do appreciate that you "safezone'd" it. This entire thread wasn't meant to be against you or anyone else (kalrathia), it's a story about Sunville, with a suggestion at the end.ant_8490 wrote:Lastly, just to wrap this up, I honestly did not realize that SafeZones did not protect chests. This leaves me with one unanswered question, What's gonna happen to Sunville?(At least their buildings)

Most of the buildings are griefed and destroyed already. It's a shame, some people used hours on building them while others used seconds on demolishing them.myback wrote:This leaves me with one unanswered question, What's gonna happen to Sunville?(At least their buildings)

Well, I can't claim it so it's up to Ant and Nick. If the safezone gets removed, Kalrathia might claim it. Just like they claimed my tower.myback wrote:I meant the palace thing and the remains of the city, gonna be destroyed? :Cawesomedude wrote:Most of the buildings are griefed and destroyed already. Well i seriously doubt awesomedude or anyone else from Sunville is gonna want to reclaim/restart the faction after reading this, so most likely it will eventually be up for grabs. I would want a fresh start and, like you, I doubt anyone else wants to resurrect Sunville. If anyone feels like trying their luck with this, they're more than welcome to use Sunville as faction tag and I would happily help them. If not, you're free to un-safezone it Ant.ant_8490 wrote:Well i seriously doubt awesomedude or anyone else from Sunville is gonna want to reclaim/restart the faction after reading this, so most likely it will eventually be up for grabs.
