Enough about you, let's get started. After the server reset, Ana and I started a faction called Sunville. Our main purpose was to build nice buildings and create a friendly environment for other players. A faction where everyone would help each other out and share a story or two. This went extremely good, we had 30+ players and were expanding rapidly. We all enjoyed playing and we soon started making our city more "real-life". We built a bakery, a blacksmith, a boat elevator with a jump at the end, a shared chest-area where everyone would deposit stuff they didn't need, so other players could have them. Hell, we even built a church. In this church we had gatherings were one person would stand at the alter and tell everyone else a story.
A couple of months went by before the problems started occurring. Sunville started gaining enemies. However, since Sunville had gained peaceful status, these enemies couldn't attack Sunville. They instead resorted to complaining about everything on the forums I'm currently complaining on. Every single thing they disliked got reported to the almighty leaders (Ant and Nick), the almighty leaders would then threaten Sunville with all sorts of things. What they threatened us with isn't important, most of you probably know already.
After countless of episodes that all ended with Sunville getting punished, we started losing that special atmosphere we had created. Life in Sunville was no longer about building and conversing, it was about how the current attack was evolving and how we were going to withstand the next attack. At this point, most of our citizens either stopped playing or left Sunville. One of those was Ana, the mayor of Sunville. She claims to have left because she couldn't handle the constant pressure, and simply wanted to relax and play Minecraft. After her departure, I became the mayor of Sunville. At this point I decided to stop protecting Sunville on the forums and stay low in-game. We continued to expand but were still getting attacked by other factions, most of these would claim land right next to us and then either build towers or dig deep holes that would kill us if we fell in. Some people died and lost their full inventory to the players behind those attacks.
I decided to head out of Sunville and continue building some where far away from everyone else. A friend of mine joined me, and after spending one month of on/off building, we had created a huge tower with all sorts of features. At the this time, we started to get a bit bored with Minecraft. Most people tend to get bored of games if they've played them intensively for several months. That's were the final issues started.
The almighty leaders decided that they were going to make life miserable for peaceful factions, soon enough they added tons of restrictions and started punishing people for playing Minecraft the way it was intended to be played.
I'll shorten this last part. The almighty leaders added a rule that would demand players to stay active, or else they would lose both their faction and all their belongings. Well, except for what they're carrying in their inventory. As I mentioned, I had gotten bored with Minecraft. Besides, I was busy with college and work, so I didn't even have time for playing every day. For the same reason I decided to quit as an administrator on the deathrun server. So, I no longer played everyday, therefor my power level started to decrease. This apparently put me on some list that I had never seen, where the almighty leaders wrote that I should unclaim land. I still played every once in a while, so the 20-days-og-inactivity-eqauls-faction-getting-auto-disbanded rule never got me. However, a friend of mine got hit by this. His faction (which was peaceful as well) got disbanded and all of his chests were raided. He stopped playing after that.
CONCLUSION/SUMMARY
Most people that I know off bought Minecraft so they could build nice buildings and dig for minerals. Ant and Nick knew that not everyone enjoy the PvP faction system, so they added peaceful factions. However, when you're in a peaceful faction you still have to:
Play every day (to prevent your power level from decreasing, which would put you on the list of evil peaceful factions).
Minimize your total of claimed plots.
Demolish buildings in case you have to decrease your total of claimed plots.
Avoid any sort of confrontation between you and other factions. Even if other factions are attacking you, you're the one getting punished for it.
Not only that, as a peaceful faction you're restricted to having only 6 members, if you want more you'll have to stay far away from spawn, isolating you from all other factions.
Back to my part of the story. I had been on this list over bad factions for some time now, and the almighty leaders decided that my time had come. They disbanded my faction and made it all into a safezone. However safezones doesn't protect chests, so the next time I joined, I had lost everything. Life's a bitch eh? I went to check out my tower, that I strategically placed far away from everyone else, but that had been claimed by Kalrathia. So, everything I had there was lost as well. Not only that, the buildings I had used months to create was now either griefed or stolen by other factions. My town 30+ players used their time on building had been torn down.
MY SUGGESTION
Allow players to build stuff without having to PvP or play every single goddamn day. FYI: Everyone here has a real-life outside of Minecraft.
When I asked the almighty leaders about what had happened, this is the answer I got:
That's all I get after spending more than 1000 hours on area 51's servers and serving as an administrator for over half a year. Thanks man, I appreciate it.ant_8490 wrote:nice... Oh wellDylan wrote:uhm safezones don't protect chests or doors so everything was looted lol
