As I said in the server, the menus are invisible and I have to randomly guess what options are what using sm_vmenuselect. It appears that I was not the only one as Exo and W1red seemed to be having the same issue. Restarting the game didn't work. Steam and the game are both fresh installations on my laptop.
I never had this happen in 14 years and the only explanation I can come up with could be the HL2DM 100 tick update that could have broken menus for some clients (which is odd because menus worked for other people).

"cl_showpluginmessages" = "1" ( def. "0" )
